Colonial Health Center
All PA students must have health insurance that provides coverage for inpatient services and medications. If students are not covered under their parent's policy, they must purchase Aetna Student Health insurance which can be found the Colonial Health website. The Colonial Health Center provides medical triage services for students while the Counseling and Psychological services (CAPS) provides behavioral health services ranging from self-help to virtual visits (TalkSpace) to group therapy sessions.
GW Resiliency and Wellness Center
This center offers wellness tips, resources to reduce stress and improve well-being, recognition and prevention of burnout, and events that promote wellness. Recurring events include meditation sessions, mindfulness, Sufi wellness and lifestyle modification activities. The center has a PA who provides behavioral health services and alternative medicine including acupuncture and Eastern Medicine.
Meditation Room
A room in Ross Hall (same building as classrooms) is designated for use by health professions students who wish to practice meditation or seek respite from their busy day on campus.
Lerner Recreation Center
The Center, which is undergoing renovation in Fall of 2022, has:
- Two gymnasia with basketball, volleyball, badminton, and indoor soccer courts and indoor hockey
- Three-lane suspended jogging track overlooking the third floor gymnasium
- Three-lane lap pool that supports open swim and aqua aerobics
- Two racquetball suites and 6 total squash courts
- Large free weight, fitness, wellness and cardiovascular fitness areas complete with sound and video systems
- Locker rooms, family locker rooms, an equipment issue desk, lobby, lounge, parking and administrative areas.
Medicine in Motion
This PA student group plans hikes and nature walks in the DC, Virginia and Maryland parks to reduce stress and burnout.
Safety
Safety and security are very important and is vital to your well-being and success as a student. The GW Division of Safety and Security offers many services to the GW community including crime prevention and community outreach, threat assessment, victim services and operation ID.

- Avoid distractions when walking by yourself such as talking and texting on your phone.
- Let a friend or family member know your plans and/or location ahead of time.
- Avoid studying or working alone in a campus building.
- Always lock your residential and car doors and windows.
- Walk, run, bike and drive in well-lit areas.
- Avoid talking and riding with strangers.
- Safeguard your valuables to avoid theft.
- Carry some form of identification with you at all times.
- Report suspicious behavior to authorities.

Security Escort Services

4Ride provides GW community members with the option of a safe ride to and from locations on and around the Foggy Bottom Campus. The service operates during the late night hours to provide safe transport between buildings across the GW Foggy Bottom Campus.

To obtain an escort, give your name, current location, and destination to the GWPD dispatcher. Have your GW ID card ready to show to the van driver or patrol officer.
For additional information about this service, call 202-994-RIDE. During all other hours, escorts are provided by GWPD officers.

Sexual Harassment & Assault (Title IX)

The GW Title IX Office provides several resources related to sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating or domestic violence or stalking.
Immediate Danger: Call 911 or the GW Emergency Services at 202-994-6111.
Non-immediate Danger: Call the Sexual Assault & Intimate Violence (SAIV) Helpline at 202-994-7222. SAIV is a confidential crisis helpline for GW students impacted by sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.
