The George Washington University's Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medicine Program
The GW Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medicine Program is a one-year certificate program that provides many of the basic science courses required for medical or PA school admission. The GW PA Program has a linkage with the Post-Baccalaureate Program's pre-PA track, through which up to two (2) post-baccalaureate pre-PA students are provided with a guaranteed interview for the GW Physician Assistant Program. Applicants to the PA Program must submit a CASPA application, meet the linkage program requirements below, and successfully complete the admission interview.
Linkage Program Requirements
- The applicant must have an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited US or English-speaking Canadian university. PA prerequisite coursework must be completed within the past 10 years of application submission with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
- The applicant must have already taken one semester of undergraduate or graduate-level psychology with an earned grade of B- or better.
- The applicant must have 1000 hours of direct patient care at the time of the application. The PA program admissions committee will determine whether experiences qualify as direct patient care.

The applicant must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 during the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-PA program and must successfully complete the program prior to matriculation.

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science
The GW Physician Assistant Program has a linkage with Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science on behalf of the Empowering Diversity, Growth, and Excellence (EDGE-PA) mentoring program. Through this linkage, the PA Program will select up to one (1) EDGE-PA applicant to be offered a guaranteed interview per cycle. Applicants to the PA Program must submit a CASPA application, meet the linkage requirements below, and successfully complete the admission interview.
Linkage Program Requirements
- The applicant must be either a current EDGE-PA member or past participant.
- The applicant must have a cumulative and overall science GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- The applicant must have 1000 hours of direct patient care at the time of the application. The PA program admissions committee will determine whether experiences qualify as direct patient care.
- All prerequisites must be completed by the time of matriculation into the program.
- Applicants must apply by the October 1st deadline.
